There’s been a lot of confusion about WWE’s early summer pay-per-view (PPV) schedule. Backlash was going to be in the San Diego area, then it wasn’t. A still unannounced Saudi Arabian show penciled in for Fri., June 7 is causing all sorts of issues – including for NXT’s TakeOver plans.
But thanks to this ad from the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington, we have one piece of the puzzle. Doesn’t look like there will be a Backlash this year. Instead, WWE’s June PPV will be the first ever… STOMPING GROUNDS!

The video also reveals a match for the show, a (first ever in Tacoma! ) showdown between SmackDown Superstars Roman Reigns and Randy Orton. But “card subject to change” and all that.
We’ll worry about that later. For now, we have to tackle the burning question… “Stomping Grounds: More or less dumb a name than Great Balls of Fire?”
