When Roman Reigns defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, I never would have thought that the two would be in a tag team together in 2019 as part of a feud with Shane McMahon. But here we are, and hey, WWE at least gave out a cool nickname for their newest, ahem, tag team.
At WWE Extreme Rules 2019, The Undertaker and Roman Reigns will team up to, hopefully, put Shane McMahon’s ego trip to rest one last time. The so-called “Best in the World” has joined – checks notes – Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans as WWE’s top heels in the summer of 2019, registering so much air time that we needed Kevin Owens to speak for our collective annoyance in a brilliant SmackDown Live promo.
If an actual dead man walking and the biggest dog of them all can’t stop Shane and his stooge Drew McIntyre – who really should be the genius behind all this – then who can?
Exactly. So you had better believe I’ll be rooting for the “Graveyard Dogs” this Sunday.
Yup, that’s right. The new nickname for The Undertaker and Roman Reigns tag team at Extreme Rules (since this is surely a one-time only thing) is the “Graveyard Dogs”.
And I love it. I love dogs, and dogs in graveyards sounds pretty damn awesome.
As you’d expect, WWE has a T-Shirt out on their website for Reigns and Undertaker with his nickname boldly emblazoned on the back.
The front? A picture of two bloodthirsty dogs with the print “We Run This Yard”.
WWE fans can only hope that this is a sign of good things to come at Extreme Rules, because Reigns and the Undertaker really do need to win here. And Shane McMahon absolutely must take the pin, because there’s no way Drew McIntyre needs to look worse in all of this. I mean, it says something that Shane beat Reigns in a single match and that “something” is not a good thing at all.
Reigns should be able to move from this and re-enter the title picture, because he is a damn good pro wrestler – too good to be carrying some bizarro program with Shane O’Mac.
But until then, Graveyard Dogs all the way!
