The most possible breakthrough of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), promoter created by Cody and The Young Bucks (with the help of Chris Jericho) has raised the alarm bells of the directors of WWE and its president, Vince McMahon. As reported by Dave Meltzer in the last radio program of the Wrestling Observer, the company sees them as hard competitors.

Finn Bálor and other fighters like Apollo Crews or Chad Gable have been contacted to be part of the new company and have a relevant role with them. They are not the only ones, NXT superstars have also been interested in the project and the new company.

WWE wants to change the strategy, that’s why it has made many signings for January. “Since ROH announced that they will be at the MSG, thanks in part to Cody and the Bucks, they have been on Vince McMahon’s radar, but they do not want to go, they do not care, they want to do something big,” Meltzer said.

Another change they have made is that they have redoubled their efforts to hire The Elite, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi. ” Cody does not intend to go, but Matt and Nick have seriously considered it,” Meltzer said. “WWE has offered them very lucrative contracts, like Omega and Ibushi, but they have rejected it.”

In case the company does not go ahead, Meltzer has advanced that Cody and The Young Bucks have as a priority to return to ROH, although “they do not rule out going to Impact and continue fighting for NJPW”. The trigger for this idea is that they want to have a shorter and better schedule because of their age.

Finally, WWE’s intentions if the company achieves an apparent success is to try to redouble its efforts in hiring talents that fight for them or that arise and begin to gain popularity thanks to the company. What is clear is that the project begins to emerge and the intention, as Meltzer points out, is “to be the alternative and overcome the WWE monopoly”.
