Vince may have lied about it, but you really are the Authority here

Share the joy

Everybody who comes to Cageside Seats has an opinion about what’s going on in pro wrestling – The Smark’s Shoot Standings (S3) are where YOU let us know YOURS.

Cast a vote in the comments. Give us the four performers you think entertained or impressed the most in the last week, and feel free to talk about why. And/or vote for your top performer in our poll.

We also have the outcome of last week’s voting, the results of which make up our annual competition for Performer of the Year.

Remember, the Standings are for the previous week’s nationally televised and internet streaming pro wrestling shows – the Feb. 25 episode of Monday Night Raw, SmackDown & 205 Live on Tues, Feb. 26, NXT UK, NXT & ROH TV from Wednesday, the Mar. 1 Impact & WOW, and any other internet streaming wrestling that aired from Feb. 24 – Mar. 2, 2019.

Make YOUR mark, smarks!

You’ve come a long way BAY-BEES

  • That’s your top two, who just likely earned themselves a WrestleMania WWE title shot and won the Women’s Tag titles at Elimination Chamber, shaking those rumps.
  • Sadly, I couldn’t find a GIF of the new North American champ in third place, but here’s one of the other Women’s tag champ and the new Intercontinental titleholder in fourth and fifth.
  • The (at that point) singles stars called up from NXT made a bigger impression than the estranged tag team… but probably just because they didn’t get as many split votes.
  • Filling out last week’s top ten were a couple familiar names (one for her work with a crutch, one for his work with the guy in first) and the wrestler who pinned the SmackDown Women’s champ.

The S3: 2018 – 19, Week 46

1. Kofi Kingston
2. Sasha Banks
3. Velveteen Dream
4. Bayley
5. Finn Bálor
6. Ricochet
7. Becky Lynch
8. Mandy Rose
9. Daniel Bryan
10. Aleister Black

Points in our weekly Standings determine our annual list – full details on rules and scoring HERE.

Where Sasha passing a long idle King of Strong Style highlights an active back half of the top ten (and Dream is a half point away from making tenth a whole different Experience):

The S3 Performer of the Year – through the Week ending Feb. 23

1. Becky Lynch – 288
2. Seth Rollins – 112
3. Finn Bálor – 108.5
4. Daniel Bryan – 99.5
5. Tommaso Ciampa – 74.5
6. Sasha Banks – 72
7. Shinsuke Nakamura – 66
8. Ricochet – 65
9. Samoa Joe – 61.5
10. Drew McIntyre – 56.5

And, to answer a question from a few weeks back, Bex does not have the most Standings points in S3 history – and probably won’t (it’s possible she could get there, but she’ll have to get back to winning weeks outright pretty quickly). Here are the previous Performer of the Year’s totals, except for inaugural winner CM Punk cause I wasn’t using Google Docs then and I can’t find my spreadsheet…

‘17 – ‘18 Roman Reigns – 234.5
‘16 – ‘17 AJ Styles – 309.5
‘15 – ‘16 Kevin Owens – 273.5
‘14 – ‘15 Seth Rollins – 311
‘13 – ‘14 Daniel Bryan – 335

It feels like the Road to WrestleMania 35 (and the end of our seventh “year”) really got started last week, so make sure you’re not forgetting anything that happened on Raw, Smackdown, NXT, New Japan, or the indies – where Sermon on the Mat will help you keep track of everything.

Every vote counts, if not for who will be Performer of the Year, then where she stands in the pantheon of winners. Plus where everyone else falls in the Standings. Plus, it’s fun! So vote!

We’ll see you next Sunday!
