John Allan came close in his first attempt, but he’s finally a UFC fighter.
The 26-year-old light heavyweight, who competed in the first Contender Series Brazil season last year, inked a deal with the promotion following his win over Alexandre Silva at Friday’s Future MMA 6 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
After the win, Allan was offered a chance to fight for U.S.-based promotion LFA, which has a partnership with Future MMA. Two days later, though, Allan announced he’s signed with the UFC.
Allan competed in front of Dana White last August and hurt Vinicius Moreira badly before getting submitted in the second round. Moreira earned a deal with the promotion with the win.
The Chute Boxe fighter returned to the winning column Friday night in Brazil, stopping previously unbeaten Alexandre Silva with a left hand. “The Hunter” now holds a 13-5 record with nine knockouts and a trio of submissions.
