UFC 239 is set to go down inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 6, 2019, and will feature a Light Heavyweight title fight between division champion, Jon Jones, and hard-hitting Thiago Santos.
The co-main event, however, is sure to deliver the goods as well, as UFC champ-champ Amanda Nunes will put her Bantamweight title on the line against former division queen, Holly Holm. Nunes made history by becoming the promotion’s first and only double-division champion by knocking out Cris Cyborg at UFC 232 (see it).
Holm, meanwhile, will get her latest opportunity to once again win UFC gold after failing to capture the Featherweight strap against the aforementioned Cyborg at UFC 219. “The Preachers Daughter’s” reign as 135-pound queen didn’t last too long after she knocked out Ronda Rousey, as she lost the belt in her next fight to Meisha Tate.
Now, she will look to once again reign supreme by attempting to hand Nunes her first loss in over five years.
