UFC 236 medical suspensions: Max Holloway, Kelvin Gastelum suspended indefinitely following interim title losses

It’s hard to fight without getting hurt.

That’s what happens when you get punched in the face for a living and Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission will need to see CT scan results before it allows Max Holloway and Kelvin Gastelum to return to action.

“Blessed” was on the losing end of a unanimous decision against Dustin Poirier in the UFC 236 lightweight main event last Sat. night (April 13, 2019) inside State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia (video). Similarly, Gastelum fell to Israel Adesanya after five rounds of middleweight action (replay).

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
