Kurt Angle got the wrestling world buzzing last Monday (Mar. 11), when he announced he was kicking off a retirement tour that started in his hometown of Pittsburgh and would end in MetLife Stadium at WrestleMania 35 on April 7.
Since then, there’s been a lot of speculation about who would get the rub of being the last opponent in Angle’s already Hall of Famer career. Geno spoke for the masses, Mick Foley cast his vote, and the man himself doesn’t seem too pressed about who he faces.
But there are plenty of people on the WWE roster who see this as a big opportunity, and some of them have even stepped forward to plead their case publicly.
On Virgin Radio’s The Kris Fade Show, Finn Bálor said he’s love to, but doesn’t think he’ll get the nod:
“Kurt’s someone I’ve looked up to my whole career. Someone who I’ve built up quite a good relationship actually in recent years and who I’d love to wrestle. But I believe his recent retirement speech may mean that that’s not possible.”
Others are a little bit more bold, probably because they’re even longer shots than Finn:
And while Kurt says he doesn’t care, he can’t say no to a Team Angle alum…
Only a few more hours until we find out (that it’s John Cena). Join us for the reveal in the live blog here.
