The time has come for WWE Fastlane 2019, a night in which the Road to WrestleMania will take a swift detour, as well as a night that could prove to be the defining stop on that road for several key storylines.

WWE Fastlane 2019 is the final pay-per-view stop before WrestleMania 35, so that alone demands a pretty impactful show with several top angles coming to a head for an important show.

The card has taken shape over the past few days, but which storylines are the biggest heading into the event?  Let’s take a look at the three biggest storylines heading into WWE Fastlane 2019.

3. The Impromptu Reunion Of The Shield

There have been a couple of mini-reunions of The Shield over the past couple of years, but despite everyone’s best efforts, the stars just didn’t align for the trio.  However, the current one-off reunion of The Shield heading into Fastlane was the most improbable of any so far.

It was only a few months ago that Roman Reigns had to step away from the WWE to battle Leukemia.  But that couldn’t keep ‘The Big Dog’ down and a couple of weeks ago on Raw saw Reigns announce he was in remission and is officially back in the WWE.

It didn’t take long for Reigns’ immediate creative direction to take shape, either.

Clamoring for one more Shield reunion, Reigns got Seth Rollins onboard this past Monday night.  However, it was a bit harder to get Dean Ambrose onboard.  ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ resisted and resisted, but ultimately gave in and helped his Shield brethren fend off an attack from Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, and Bobby Lashley.  And with that, the six-man tag team match was made for Fastlane.

The WWE is dubbing this as likely the final time The Shield will compete together, and with the current contract rumors surrounding Ambrose, that could be true.  Regardless of Ambrose’s future in the WWE, this is still a pretty big turn of events for Fastlane and could lead to a compelling matchup with potential WrestleMania implications.

‘The Hounds Of Justice’ are back for maybe one final time, so their opponents better look out on Sunday night.
