Teofimo Lopez is confident of securing a knockout of Masayoshi Nakatani (18-0, 12 KOs) on July 19 in Maryland, when he takes part in a final eliminator to to get a crack at the IBF lightweight championship held by Richard Commey.

And if he beats Commey, then Lopez would go forward to a unification showdown with Vasiliy Lomachenko, who would need to beat Luke Campbell in August.

“Everything they are saying about Commey and Lomachenko will not happen if I do not beat Nakatani, that’s the most important thing, and I feel ready – but for now I’m not looking beyond this eliminator,” said Lopez to ESPN Deportes. “Nakatani is a tall fighter, he has good jab and he’s going to want to fight from a distance, but we’ve worked on that. We’ll see what happens when I feel my fists on his body.

Lopez will be looking to do the same kind of damage that he’s done in some of his recent outings.

“Let’s see if Nakatani can withstand the full twelve rounds, most of the fighters that I’ve faced can not take it for every round and I don’t think Nakatani is going to put up much resistance. This fight will be finished by knockout,” Lopez said.

And Lopez promised to finish the fight with one of his popular in-ring celebration – which change from fight to fight.

“People like the show, we talk a lot but we back it up. I don’t talk to be famous, I talk because I have faith in myself, that’s why I celebrate.. there are a lot who do not like it but it’s part of what I bring to the ring for this fight. Since we are near Baltimore, I’m going to celebrate with something from that area.. they have the Ravens, something from Ray Lewis maybe,” Lopez said.
