Becky Lynch now has the blessing of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
A comparison that has been made for months is now being confirmed by at least one of the participants. Is Becky Lynch the female version of Stone Cold or is Steve Austin the male version of The Man?
Appearing on SiriusXM’s MMA Tonight, Austin talked some UFC and then was asked for his thoughts on the rise of Lynch. Never one to hold back his opinion, Austin fully endorsed Lynch as one of his favorite pro wrestlers in the game today.
“Vince McMahon wants everyone there to be a star. He’ll set you up and give you opportunities. She made the most of those opportunities and when they tried to slam the door on her, she kicked the door down and burst right through it. I love what she’s doing. I like her swagger. And she’s the hottest thing going right now.”
The act of comparing Lynch to male superstars from the past has been going on months now. Every time a new roadblock is thrown in the way of The Man, fans and critics alike are quick to point out the similarities between her and The Texas Rattlesnake.
How close are we to The Man showing up to Monday night Raw and blasting the McMahon family with a fire hose filled with quinoa? Fill up the McMahon’s limo with hot tea? How would any of this even work?
Though, authority figures versus wrestlers feuds are something we’ve seen many (many) times before, it would be nice if WWE allows Lynch to play some of her own beats. Comparisons to one of the popular male wrestlers of all-time are nice, but WWE, media, and fans alike should let Lynch’s character stand on her own more often.
Enjoy riding on The Man bandwagon and love it for what it is.
Are people/WWE too quick to compare Becky Lynch to male wrestlers of the past?
