We’re just under one month away from WrestleMania 35 and, for the very first time in its history, it’s at least possible a women’s match will main event the show. Ronda Rousey’s name value, or at least the perception of it within WWE, could very well land her Raw women’s title defense against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair the headlining spot.
Then again, the company is also promoting Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins as the main event of the show on Sun., April 7, 2019, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
When asked about the chances the women’s triple threat will get that slot, Stephanie McMahon had this to say (via TheNational.ae):
“It would mean more to me then I could describe for our women to be the main event at WrestleMania. Charlotte, Ronda and Becky could do it this year. There is so much momentum behind the story. They are so incredibly talented. I know they would deliver. But what I will say is that I hope it is the first of many.”
That she is unwilling to confirm they will indeed be headlining would seem to indicate the decision hasn’t been made just yet. After all, if they were going to put women in that main event spot, and they knew that already, you just know WWE would be pushing it as a monumental achievement for its women’s evolution and so on and so forth.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
