SmackDown ratings (April 9, 2019): WrestleMania bump

Share the joy

Audience-wise, the ‘Mania bump SmackDown LIVE got this year wasn’t much. Their April 9 episode only had approximately 58K viewers than the week prior, as the WrestleMania 35 fallout show drew 2,199,000.

That’s right where the blue brand’s been hovering for a while, except for a spike for the tag team gauntlet episode of KofiMania. For this week, it gave WWE the seventh most watched cable original on the night, behind History’s Curse of Oak Island, and political talk on MSNBC & Fox News.

In terms of ratings, the news was better. The .78 share of the overall 18 – 49 year old demographic won the night and was the second best number SmackDown’s had this year (behind Xavier Woods & Big E securing their New Day brother his WWE title shot two weeks ago).

Last year’s post-’Mania show had an audience of 2.95 million and a rating of .98. So… yeah. Everybody knows numbers are down year-over-year, and now we have another data point.

For those keeping track, USA Network’s Miz & Mrs clocked in at 10pm EDT with 997,000 watching and a .42 rating (flat viewership with April 2 premiere, and up slightly from a .41 among 18 – 49 year olds).
