Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight slugger, Santiago Ponzinibbio, was recently awarded the key to his city of La Plata. According to “Gente Boa,” the mayor named him an “illustrious citizen” worthy of the recognition.
I guess that was a receipt for defending his home turf against American interloper Neil Magny in the UFC Fight Night 140 mixed martial arts (MMA) main event, held earlier this month in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on FOX Sports 1.
“Today I was declared an illustrious citizen of my beautiful hometown and they gave me the key to the city,” Ponzinibbio wrote on social media. “How nice it is to go home!”
A shiny key and framed plaque sound real nice (just ask this guy), but former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Holly Holm, got her own month from the folks in Albuquerque for knocking out Ronda Rousey back in 2015.
