It was New Year’s Eve, 2004, when Royce Gracie stepped into the cage to face sumo champion Chad “Akebono” Rowan for a K-1 Dynamite MMA match. Which means some of the people reading this site are too young to remember what happened next.

With 265 pounds separating the fighters–Akebono weighed in at 205.0 kilos–Gracie pulled guard. Twice.
