See, not all fight announcements are bad.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has put together an interesting welterweight bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Kamaru Usman to headline the upcoming Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 28 Finale on November 30, 2018.
The bout was rumored for some time, but the combatants have finally put pen to paper.
Dos Anjos will look to bounce back after coming up short against Colby Covington at UFC 225 earlier this year in his attempt to claim the interim division title (see it). The loss was “RDA’s” first at 170 pounds after making the jump up from Lightweight, where he once held the division strap.
As for Usman, “The Nigerian Nightmare” has been an unstoppable freight train since making his Octagon debut way in 2015, winning all eight of his fights, including capturing the TUF season 21 title. If we stretch it back a bit further, Usman is riding a 12 fight win streak and has won 13 of his 14 pro fights.
Kamaru has often stated it’s hard to get potential opponents to sign on the dotted line to face him, but Rafael is as game as they come, picking up wins over Robbie Lawler, Neil Magny and Tarec Saffiedine during his welterweight run.
The outcome of this fight should clear up the 170-pound title picture a bit more, as Usman can definitely punch his ticket to the big dance with a victory. Of course, Covington is still waiting for division king Tyron Woodley to heal up so they can do the dance, but the winner if this matchup moves that much closer.
The TUF 28 Finale is set to go down on November 30, 2018 at Pearl Theatre at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada and will also crown the heavyweight and women’s featherweight winners from the show.
