A bizarre finish at the end of the fourth round put paid to David Price’s latest comeback as a corner retirement due to arm injury saw the scouser suffer his sixth career loss against Russian prospect Sergey Kuzmin .

It has become a sadly familiar sight to watch Liverpool’s giant heavyweight David Price beaten in front of large crowds and Price’s once sparkling record now stands at 22-6. It’s difficult to see where the popular scouser goes from here after a positive start in which he fired familiar left jab and right hand combinations. Kuzmin boxed with an assured air and quickly found his own rhythm, punishing the Liverpool man to the body and landing quick, powerful hooks to the head.

Price had something of a breakthrough in the third when landing with a terrific combination which prompted gasps from the crowd. It proved a short lived highlight, with Kuzmin soon re-establishing control, stalking Price and landing dangerous looking hooks.

The fight was called off by Price’s corner at the end of the fourth, with the Englishman revealing afterwards he’d suffered a bicep injury in training for the match.

Kuzmin, who repeated the feat performed by countryman Alexander Povetkin in beating Price, improves his slate to 13-0.
