Miguel ‘Micky’ Roman is betting on his power this coming Saturday, when he challenges Miguel ‘Alacran’ Berchelt for the absolute super featherweight crown of the World Boxing Council, at the Don Haskins Convention Center in El Paso, Texas.

The battle of Mexican bangers has been highly anticipated, as both boxers have been trading words in the press for several months.

Roman trained for this fight for the last two months in Maywood, California; with sparring at the highest level, under the supervision of coach Rudy Hernandez, with whom he has formed a partnership that created great results.

Roman became he mandatory challenger in December of 2017, after scoring an upset knockout of former world champion Orlando Salido in Las Vegas.

“From the first day I arrived with Rudy I felt very comfortable because he is a trainer who cares about the person and the boxer, we are already going on two years working together and I know that all of the efforts will turn into good results. We did a great physical work, good boxing and the right food,” Roman said.

“I do not want to give the slightest advantage and my plan is to finish the fight by knockout, take advantage of the support of my people to get a result that will be historic. People on both sides of the border are very aware of this fight and I believe that we’re not going to fall short. We are both great fighters and a show is guaranteed… because I dare say it will be the fight of the year whether it lasts three, five or twelve rounds.”

The explosive fight for the green and gold crown will be carried in Mexico by Televisa Deportes and in the United States it was picked up by streaming service ESPN+.
