One of New Jersey’s top prospects is coming home.
Officials announced Tuesday that Green Brook, N.J., native Mickey Gall will meet Salim Touahri in a welterweight bout at UFC Newark on Aug. 3. at Prudential Center.
This will be Gall’s first time competing in his home state as a professional.
Gall, 27, is coming off of a second-round TKO loss to veteran Diego Sanchez at UFC 235 this past March. It was the first time in his career that he’d been finished and it dropped his pro record to 5-2. In the UFC, Gall holds submission wins over CM Punk, Sage Northcutt, and George Sullivan.
Touahri (10-3) will be seeking his first win inside the Octagon. The 29-year-old Polish fighter lost his first two UFC outings by decision to Keita Nakamura and Warlley Alves. Prior to those setbacks, he’d won five consecutive bouts competing primarily in Poland and Russia.
UFC Newark is scheduled to be headlined by a welterweight bout between Colby Covington and Robbie Lawler. The main card will air live on ESPN.
