Match Card Predictions After WrestleMania 35

Share the joy

WrestleMania 35 is over and done with. So now we turn our focus to WWE SummerSlam 2019. What could be in store for The Biggest Party of the Summer?

When spring is in the air, wrestling fans know that it’s WrestleMania season. But in a few short weeks, the days will grow longer and warmer. The dog days of summer will be here before we know it. And that means one thing: WWE SummerSlam 2019.

After a four year stay in Brooklyn — and the six before that in Los Angeles — SummerSlam is going international. Toronto is hosting the summertime extravaganza for the second time (2004 being the first). WWE will invade Scotiabank Arena, the former Air Canada Centre, on August 11, 2019, for The Biggest Party of the Summer.

That said… well, that’s literally all we know about WWE SummerSlam 2019 at this point. Not a single match has been announced, not a single talent officially advertised for the show. Heck, we still don’t even know who will be a Raw superstar, or a SmackDown superstar, or if the two will still be officially separate by August.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t get out our crystal balls and try to predict this card! It’s a WWE pay per view, after all — they’re not really all that different year in and year out. A bunch of matches, some crazy overbooking, and a long argument after the fact about the overall quality of the show? That’s all it takes to fit the bill.

Let’s use last year’s card as a template: 13 matches in total, with three taking place on the Kickoff Show. Every championship in WWE was contested in Brooklyn in 2018, as well. So that’s our starting point. And as far as rosters/brands/whatever, well, there are times when WWE doesn’t seem to care about who’s on which brand, so let’s just play fast and loose with that.

Without any further ado, here’s our super early match card predictions for WWE SummerSlam 2019.
