The Tijuana native Luis “Pantera” Nery will close off an active year in style, as he looks to send a message of what will come in 2019.

Nery (27-0, 21 KO’s) will be defending his WBC bantamweight silver world championship, when he takes on Argentine boxer Carlos Jorge Luis Sardínez (13-1-0, 2 KO’s) on Saturday, December 1, at Saltillo, in function of Zanfer that will be transmitted by the Casa del Boxeo, Azteca 7.

Nery not only wants to regain the bantamweight title, he wants to be the unified monarch. To do so, in 2019, he will look for any of the 118-pound world champions (Zolani Tete WBO, Emmanuel Rodriguez IBF, Nonito Donaire WBA, and the WBC is vacant) to regain his place among the elite of the division.

To do this, he must win on the first Saturday of December against Sardínez, a fighter of great technique and speed, which although has fewer professional fights, is an adversary difficult to overcome.

Sardínez was already the South American bantamweight champion, and in his most recent fight, he overtook Carlos Farías by decision.

Nery, on the other hand, knocked out Jason Camoy in three rounds in October in Tijuana.

Of his last eight rivals since 2016, none of them have lasted more than six rounds.

Nery will seek to give a blow of authority on Saturday, the first of December, in Saltillo, and send a message to the current champions of the world at 118 pounds, as the plan is already drawn to regain his place as champion of the world. Nery will have a lot of activity in 2019, including some big fights.

Of course, he will have to stay on the winning plan, starting on Saturday, December 1st.
