Kofi Kingston is money as WWE Champion

Share the joy

Last night at WWE Money in the Bank, Kofi Kingston once again successfully defended his WWE Championship in a great match. This only goes to show that Kofi is MONEY with that title around his waist.

Capturing the WWE Championship at WrestleMania has proven to be the best thing that could have ever happened to Kofi Kingston. Apart from the obvious reasons, that is. Obviously, winning the WWE Title is the best thing that could ever happen to any wrestler’s career. But as it pertains to Kofi and as it has proven in these last few weeks, the perks have been more than just giving us a feel good moment on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Winning that title has afforded  a second wind to the Ghana native. Some new in-ring motivation, if you will. He was always an excellent in-ring competitor, but he has managed to go the extra mile in that ring as WWE Champion, especially when that title is on the line. A couple of weeks ago, Kofi had not just one, but two stellar title defenses in the same week thanks to the Wild Card Rule. First against Daniel Bryan on Raw, then against Sami Zayn and AJ Styles on SmackDown Live. On a week of WWE television that was admittedly lackluster, Kofi remained a consistent highlight.

That’s the key word right there: consistency – the perfect word to describe Kofi Kingston and his WWE Championship matches. Since winning that title, Kofi has consistently delivered A+ performance after A+ performance week after week. If there’s one thing you can always bank on during any given day of WWE television now, it’s that Kofi is going to give us a fantastic performance in the ring no matter who he faces.

Last night at Money in the Bank, he faced and successfully defended his title against Kevin Owens and to no one’s surprise, he had another great match. A splendid title defense, actually. It goes without saying that Owens and the rest of Kingston’s recent opponents have been game competition, but Kofi especially has kicked into high gear since winning that title.

Despite cracking in at age 37 with over a decade’s worth of wrestling experience under his belt, Kofi is not showing signs of slowing down any time soon. In fact, right now, he’s giving the best in-ring performances than he has ever given. If all of this is what comes with the WWE Championship, here’s hoping that Kofi does not lose that title any time soon.
