The Feb. 12 edition of WWE SmackDown was a stellar go-home episode of the blue brand before this Sunday’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view that helped build intrigue towards that event.
Last night’s WWE SmackDown didn’t feature many segments or matches, but what was featured was all of solid quality, especially the huge gauntlet match that gave the WWE Championship picture a ton of momentum before Elimination Chamber.
It’s an exciting time in the WWE right now on the road to WrestleMania and the blue brand is showing out weekly. With that being said, let’s take a look at a few grades from the Feb. 12 edition of WWE SmackDown.
4. Opening Segment
The hottest angle in the WWE, and quite possibly pro wrestling in general, involves the situation between Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey heading into WrestleMania 35 in April. This is a feud unlike any women’s feud in WWE history and it is keeping fans on their toes the entire time.
Lynch was scheduled to face Rousey one-on-one at WrestleMania for the Raw Women’s Championship, but thanks to Mr. McMahon suspending her Monday night and replacing her with Charlotte, things have gotten much more unpredictable. The Queen has immediately become the biggest heel in the company and she made sure everyone knew it last night.
Charlotte was basking in her glory and was as sarcastic as ever, which undeniably brings out the best in her character. The Queen said it was obvious why Mr. McMahon made the decision he made and deep down, the fans know why he did it. She said she is the backbone of the women’s division and he wanted someone that could get the job done against Rousey at WrestleMania.
She said he didn’t want a flash in the pan like Lynch. Charlotte also said she will have a front-row seat at Elimination Chamber on Sunday to watch Rousey’s title defense against Ruby Riott, and that she could even wind up facing Riott at WrestleMania instead of Rousey. This segment was pretty straight forward, but Charlotte did it so well and this side of her is the best side of Charlotte fans have seen.
The Queen is on top of the throne once again, but don’t count out The Man quite yet because she won’t go down without a fight.
Final Grade: B+
