EBU heavyweight champ Agit Kabayel will, according to the EBU, defend the title on March 2 in Magdeburg on a SES promotion.

The opponent will be Ukrainian Andriy Rudenko, 32-3, who returned late December after being inactive since losing to Alexander Povetkin in July of 2017.

This voluntary defence came about after mandatory challenger Otto Wallin stepped aside after his trainer Joey Gamache had been seriously injured after being attacked in New York.

February 16 is a big day for boxing in Belgium or how about this: In Roselaere EBU cruiser champ Yves Ngabu, 19-0, takes on mandatory challenger Micki Nielsen, 25-1, from Denmark. In Herstal EBU lightweight king Francesco Patera, 20-3, face Frenchman Marvin Petit, 24-1-1, and on a somewhat lower scale in Sint Truiden unbeaten super lightweight Jessy Petit-Jean, 14-0, is in against Mohamed El Marcouchi, 20-2.

Teak tough Frenchman Renald Garrido, 23-21-3, drops down to lightweight on Saturday (Feb 2) in Marseille and fight veteran Sylvain Chapelle, 17-26-2, for the vacant national title.

Super middleweight Vartan Avetisyan, 18-0-1, takes on Yusef Kanguel, 17-3-1, February 9 in Berlin. At stake is the vacant WBC Mediterranean title. EC Boxing headed by Erol Ceylan have been around for nine years now and have developed a number of good pros (such as heavyweight Christian Hammer, lightheavies Igor Michalkin, Karo Murat and Sven Fornling to name a few) and taken over some from others as well and boxing-wise things have gone well with a number of good promotions.. Financially however, it´s been a different story and Ceylan says in a press release that the December 15 show in Hamburg lost around 100,000 Euro. The main reason is the lack of TV backing.

Super welterweight Arman Torosyan, 19-5-1, square off against Jama Saidi, 14-0, February 16 in Koblenz on a Team Sauerland show. The fight is for something called the IBF European title. Also on the bill is Leon Bunn, 12-0, vs Viktor Polyakov, 13-5-1. In the main event welterweight  Abass Barou, 4-0, is in against Carlos Molina 29-10-2.
