The Grand Prix in Tashkent used to be a World Cup and later Grand Prix where easy points where for grab with low participants numbers, but that period is over with over 350 athletes ready to rock some points for Tokyo.

Also the women’s category U48kg, usually not the most crowded category is one of the top divisions with 25 athletes, the category with second most participants. With 25 athletes only the 26 of U63kg are bigger in number, but the quality U48kg is amazing.

One expected the clash between Galbadrakh Otgontsetseg (KAZ) and the world number one, Munkhbat Urantsetseg (MGL), but in the absence of the latter, it is the Kazakh who has the best chances of victory. But that’s not counting on the potential of Katharina Menz (GER) and Distria Krasniqi (KOS) who are in the same pool and Milica Nikolic (SRB) or Csernoviczki Eva (HUN) who won a bronze medal last year are in pool D. Dutch Amber Gersjes is last year’s World Champion starting in the same pool as number one seed Galbadrakh. All these young women have serious reasons to believe that they can win on the first day of competition.
