Jon Jones reacts to ‘bulls—t’ UFC rankings after finishing second to Daniel Cormier

Share the joy

Jon Jones has defeated practically everyone in the light heavyweight division, including former champion Daniel Cormier, but is still behind “DC” in the official UFC rankings, released on Monday in the wake of UFC 232 (see them here).

That’s where “Bones” reclaimed his 205-pound crown, thanks to a violent finish over Alexander Gustafsson in the pay-per-view (PPV) main event (watch it). The recently-vacated title, up for grabs at UFC 232, was originally returned to Cormier in the wake of his knockout loss at UFC 214 after Jones failed a drug test.

One thing Cormier has over Jones is the ability to hold titles in two different weight classes, but then we fall back to the same argument about what constitutes a champion. Can you only become “champion” by defeating the best fighters in the world, or by defeating the best fighters in the world who are actually able to stay licensed and compete?

We already know what “Bones” thinks, referring to his second place on the pound-for-pound list as “Number one bullshit.”

Cormier is currently the UFC heavyweight champion and may be in line for a money-making super fight against Brock Lesnar. If not, “DC” has agreed to rematch Stipe Miocic before considering a third and final Jones fight, which only has until this date to actually happen.

Unless this guy has something to say about it.
