Lexington, SC — The Hofstra Wrestling team wrapped up their eight-match road swing with two more victories on Sunday at Lexington High School. The Pride defeated the Wildcats of Davidson, 33-8 in the first of two matches before topping the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb, 32-13 in the second match.

Six Hofstra wrestlers posted double victories on the day including five who tallied both of their victories on the mat. Freshman Holden Heller recorded two major decision victories, junior Omar Haddad had a major decision win and a decision victory, sophomores Garrett Lambert and Chris Mauriello each had two wins by decision, freshman Trey Rogers had a win by decision and a win by injury default, and freshman Dylan Ryder had two wins by forfeit.

In the first match of the day, Hofstra won five of the first six matches of the contest to build a 20-3 lead after Ricky Stamm’s tech fall win over Davidson junior Hunter Costa. After the Wildcats posted a tech fall win at 174, the Pride wrapped up the contest with three straight wins including a win by fall by senior Nezar Haddad at 197 to post the 32-8 victory.

In the Pride’s second match of the day against the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb, Hofstra won the first five matches of the contest, including forfeit wins at 125 and 133 and Holden Heller’s major decision win at 149, for a 22-0 lead. Gardner-Webb won three of the next four matches to close to 28-13. But, with the fate of the match not in question, junior Omar Haddad closed out the contest with a major decision win at 285 for the 32-13 final.

Hofstra will return to action on Saturday, January 26 when the Pride return home to the David S Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex to face the Broncs of Rider at noon, and the Bison of Bucknell in an Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) match, at 7 p.m.
