In Gi Or No-Gi, ADCC Qualifier Jena Bishop Is Ready For Any Challenge She Meets

Jena Bishop is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals. The black belt standout has made a lot of changes and sacrifices to get where she is today. First, she made the big move from Missouri to San Diego, California to pursue her BJJ dreams. Then, she made the difficult, but amicable switch from Gracie Humaita to Alliance.

As tough as they’ve been, Bishop’s choices have been paying off. She earned her spot at ADCC this year, and tonight, she’ll face another monumental challenge when she faces multiple-time World Champion Luiza Monteiro at Fight 2 Win 117. Although many of Bishop’s greatest achievements have been in the no-gi category, her match with Monteiro will take place in the gi. This, however, doesn’t diminish her confidence. “I’ve had a lot of success in no-gi this year and am excited to compete in ADCC in September,” she says. “I feel like I’m coming into my stride in the gi as well.”

The fact that Bishop is training in an environment that’s conducive to her goals has helped her feel more prepared for this match as well. “I’ve been really happy with my team and had an amazing training camp at Alliance SD. I have a lot of goals this year and hold myself to a high standard. I want to set an example in my work ethic and what I’m able to do competition this year.”

Neither Bishop nor Monteiro is likely to have an easy match tonight at F2W 117. But win or lose, don’t expect to see Bishop slowing down anytime soon. Whether it’s a single superfight on the F2W stage or an entire bracket at ADCC, she’ll continue to push herself and do whatever it takes to make it to the top. “It’s important to me that I continue to grow and perfect my jiu-jitsu. I feel like I am really prepared for F2W and am ready to compete again.”

Make sure you’re watching on FloGrappling as Bishop and Monteiro take the stage shortly at F2W 117!
