Watch the video below and then we will break down Daniel Beleza’s loop choke from double under pass technique. Check it out now!

Daniel Beleza starts this demonstration from bottom guard when his opponent has secured double under hooks on his legs. Daniel first secures his cross collar grip which forces his training partner to try and pass to the opposite site. From here he brings his leg over to set up the loop choke. It is important to let your training partner control your leg and foot in order for you to set up the loop choke. As soon as your partner goes starts to pass you want to open your legs, brining your elbow up and connecting with your other hand. From here throw your opposite leg over the back of your opponent’s head to set up the triangle position. The harder you squeeze the more effective this loop choke will be.

As you can tell this position works really well because it tricks your training partner into thinking he is going to be able to go for the over under position, but in reality you use this to set up the loop choke. It is a trap and Daniel Beleza is very good at getting this position because his timing is truly amazing. Not many BJJ players are going to be familiar with this choke, so it is likely they will not see it coming from the double under position. Often times you will see Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitors get incredibly focused on the pass and forget that they can also be submitted. So the next time you are training on the mats in a live roll or in a competition, try this choke and see if it works for you. Remember, the setting up the fake, and timing are both really important, so do not worry if you do not get it on the first try. Daniel Beleza has used this choke many times in competition, so you know it works. It is just a matter of getting the timing right. I hope you find this loop choke from double under pass technique useful. I want to give a big thank you to Daniel Beleza for demonstrating this technique for us here today!
