WBO super middleweight world champion Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez is working at full speed in California to once again defend his championship in a rematch with Jesse Hart, which tops an ESPN televised card on December 14 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

In September of last year, Ramirez won a twelve round decision over Hart in a mandatory fight that was ordered by the WBO.

Hart had been able to secure another mandatory shot, which the WBO ordered, and this time Hart wants to close the show with a knockout victory.

Ramirez has been working hard, and wants to prevent any further doubt over which of them is the better fighter.

“They already know each other and that’s precisely why we expect a more intense fight,” said Ramírez’s manager and coach Héctor Zápari to ESPN Deportes.

“This time Gilberto is coming in as a more mature fighter and wants to end the business with Hart. This time there will be no doubts and that is why he is very focused on getting the knockout. He’s very hungry, very accurate and with a lot of desire.

“I think he’s going to be more complete in all aspects… technical, physical, preparation, mentality, maturity, and that will allow him to come out with the victory. We know Hart is a good fighter and he has respectable punch, but ‘Zurdo’ is a more complete fighter, fights well inside, fights well outside, and has more resources and capabilities than Hart. We expect a victory by knockout.

“Fighting in Texas is good for us, the people there have given a lot of support to ‘Zurdo’ whenever he’s fought there. It is one of our favorite places to fight, people identify with his style and there are a lot of Mexicans. Corpus is not far from the border.”
