TYSON FURY will show why he is a man in demand in the US when he faces Tom Schwarz on June 15.
There have been some criticising the fight but we all know everyone wants the big rematch with Deontay Wilder.
Fury wants it too but as the ‘lineal’ heavyweight champion he had to get his fair share in any deal to face the WBC title holder.
That is why he could not turn down the huge offer from Top Rank and US broadcasting giant ESPN.
They want him to increase his profile across the Atlantic and he will do that in Las Vegas when he faces unbeaten Schwarz.
This fight will be seen by more eyes in America than will watch Anthony Joshua against Jarrell Miller and Wilder against Dominic Breazeale.
That’s because of the audience figures of ESPN compared to DAZN and Showtime, who broadcast the other two big-name heavyweights.
Schwarz is 24-0 – the same record Fury had going into his fight with Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
So Fury will have to be at his best to avoid a slip-up which would wreck any hopes of a rematch with Wilder.
Fury should have got the decision when they drew in December.
But he has still only fought three times in almost four years, so another bout will do him no harm.
Then it will be full focus on the Wilder rematch. We want it as soon as possible and I believe the American’s team do too, so we are not ruling out this year.
