Former WWE titleholder returns to Impact (SPOILER)

Share the joy

Impact was in New York – Queens, to be exact – for a television taping at the Melrose Ballroom last night (June 7). The promotion is building toward their July pay-per-view (PPV), Slammiversary XVII, but one of the more noteworthy events was the debut/return of TJ Perkins.

TJP is one of only a handful of wrestlers who’ve managed to get released by WWE of late. He won the Cruiserweight Classic tournament as a babyface back in 2016, becoming the first person to hold the new Cruiserweight title. He spent the next few years on 205 Live, mostly as a heel, before being released in February.

Now, he’s back with the former TNA where he wrestled on and off for more than a decade (mostly in masked gimmicks and under names like Puma, Suicide and Manik) before signing with WWE.

At the Impact taping, he defeated Ace Austin. Best guess is he’ll be back in the X-Division, but we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds.
