The Ultimate Fighter 28 finals are set.
Following Wednesday’s season-ending episode of TUF 28, the official heavyweight and women’s featherweight tournament final matchups were confirmed for The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale card, which takes place Friday at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. This most recent (and possibly last) season of TUF saw middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum coaching two teams of eight (four heavyweights, four women’s featherweights) against one another.
Invicta FC fighters Pannie Kianzad (10-3) and Macy Chiasson (2-0), both of Team Gastelum, will face off in the featherweight final, while Team Gastelum’s Justin Frazier (10-2) will fight Team Whittaker’s Juan Espino (8-1) in the heavyweight final. The winner of each bout will earn the title of The Ultimate Fighter and a six-figure contract with the UFC.
Gastelum is booked to challenge Whittaker for the middleweight title at UFC 234 on Feb. 10 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
The cast members who bowed out in the TUF 28 semifinals have also been paired off, as Glory kickboxer Maurice Greene (5-2) fights Cuban Olympic wrestler Michel Batista (4-0) in a heavyweight bout, and recent Invicta competitor Leah Letson (4-1) fights Julija Stoliarenko (4-2-1) in a featherweight bout.
Welterweight contenders Rafael dos Anjos (28-10) and Kamaru Usman (13-1) will compete in Friday’s main event.
