Euro News: Dominic Boesel Defends, Laggoune vs. Opetaia, More

EBU light heavyweight champ Dominic Boesel (28-1) defends the title against Italian Orial Kulaj (19-5) on April 13 in Halle an der Saale on a SES promotion. It´s a voluntary defence by Boesel, who have a very capable official challenger waiting in the shape of Igor Michalkin.

It´s the second defence by Boesel who won the title by beating Serhiy Demchenko and then retained it against Enrico Koelling. Kolaj held the EU title until recently and was 4-5 back in 2011 but have since won 15 straight wins – with long breaks between fights.


Italian jr lightweight Michael Magnesi (13-0 ) take on tough Spanish veteran Rudy “El Lobo Negro” Encarnacion (39-27-4) March 21 at the Hotel Cavalieri Hilton in Rome with the vacant IBF Mediterranean title at stake. Also on this Buccioni Boxing Team show is a clash for the Italian middleweight title between Marco Boezio (6-3-1) and Khalil El Harraz (9-0-1).

IBF I/C cruiser champ Bilal Laggoune (24-1-2) defends the title against undefeated Australian Jai Opetaia (16-0) on March 22 in Roosdal, Belgium, on a show promoted by Belgian Fighting Competition headed by Ezzedine Laggoune. On the undercard female super middleweight Femke Hermans (9-2) and Elin Cederroos (5-0) clash for the vacant IBF title and reigning WBA Int´l cruiser king Ryan Merhy (27-1) is also featured on the show in a non title fight. Merhy defends the title next May 4 in Charleroi.

LNK Boxing stage LNK Fight Night 11 March 23 at Arena Riga in Riga, Latvia. It´s a mixed martial arts professional boxing show. The boxing part is topped by a showdown between the always dangerous Patrick Mendy (18-13-3) and Ricards Bolotniks.(12-5-1) in a fight made at light heavy.  Mendy beat former world champ Dmitri Chudinov last time out.

EBU super bantam champ Luca Rigoldi (19-1-1) makes the first defence of the title he won against Jeremy Parodi in November of last year April 25 in Brescia, Italy, on a Boxe Loreni promotion.

Rigoldi takes on Frenchman Anthony Settoul (23-7). It´s a voluntary defence by Rigoldi, who have Russian Oleksandr Yehorov as mandatory challenger. Settloul´s last fight was in fact also for the EBU title and he was stopped in one in by Abigail Medina, who moved on to fight for a world title which paved the way for Rigoldi-Parodi.
