The March 25 edition of WWE Raw continued the buildup towards WrestleMania 35 and even with an overall inconsistent show, the positives were real high points that could go a long way.
Last night’s WWE Raw wasn’t the greatest show the red brand has ever produced, but several of the key angles going on in the buildup towards WrestleMania took a turn for the better while others simply stayed in neutral.
With only one Raw remaining until WrestleMania, the time has come for the red brand to click on all cylinders. Let’s take a look at a few grades from the March 25 edition of WWE Raw.
4. Beat The Clock Challenge
No angle has been hotter in the WWE over the past few months than the growing issues between a trio of top women superstars. Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair have been at each other for months, but their issues will come to a head on the grandest stage of them all.
Rousey will defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Lynch and Flair in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 35 and with this, for the first time in history, women will main event the show of shows. It will be a huge night for these women and the women’s evolution in general, but before they get to WrestleMania, they had a unique task at hand last night.
These three women competed in a beat the clock challenge against The Riott Squad with the winner gaining major WrestleMania momentum with less than two weeks until their headline matchup. This challenge felt a bit odd going in considering it wasn’t for anything in all honesty, but as it played out, it felt even odder given how the matches went. Rousey took on Sarah Logan and despite Logan running around the ring at first, she tapped out to Rousey in 1:25.
The Queen was up next when she took on Ruby Riott and despite locking Riott in the Figure-Eight in the final seconds, she was unable to make her tap out and Rousey’s time was still intact. But The Man took care of that when she pinned Liv Morgan with only a few seconds to spare and with that, Lynch won the beat the clock challenge with Rousey standing in a bit of disgust.
Simply put, this was not a very good idea and the individual matches were basically nonsense, not to mention basically squashed the entire Riott Squad in the process.
Final Grade: C-
