Double Or Nothing gets a battle royal & AEW teases long-term angles

Cody Rhodes promised a match announcement for All Elite Wrestling’s first pay-per-view (PPV) on the newest edition of his Road to Double Or Nothing YouTube series. It wasn’t the reveal of his opponent, even though last week’s episode teased he’d already had promotional materials featuring that dude’s name & face printed up.

It was, however, the return of a popular match from Cody & The Young Buck’s ALL IN show from last summer… the Over The Budget Battle Royal II.

With the Khan family’s money behind them this time, the Elite crew won’t be over budget for Double Or Nothing. So the wrestlers in the match (Sonny Kiss, Kip Sabien and Brandon Cutler are introduced in the video) won’t be paid in the proceeds from selling off the ring. Instead, they’ll be competing for a great incentive… that Cody can’t reveal yet.

Road to Double Or Nothing episode 4 has nice featurettes on each of those three men, leading off with Kiss – which is a small but not insignificant gesture after last week’s inclusivity statement. And there’s a tease of future issues between Rhodes and Jericho which are a sign of the long-form storytelling AEW is promising fans, and a glimpse at their booking plans for beyond Double Or Nothing.
