Dmitry Bivol Boxes Past Jean Pascal To Win Decision

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey – WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (15-0, 11 KOs) won a wide twelve round unanimous decision over former champion Jean Pascal (33-6-1, 20 KOs). The scores were 117-111, 119-109, 119-109.

Bivol controlled the first round with more accurate punches and stung Pascal in the closing moments. Bivol’s punches were rattling Pascal in the second round. He was unable to land much of anything on Bivol in return.

In the third, Pascal was being tagged up every time he stepped inside to land a shot. Pascal was becoming more busier in the fourth and looking to up his low punch output, but Bivol was still in full control and used the jab to set up his bigger punches.

Pascal continued to get more aggressive in the fifth, and he was also being hit more as well. Bivol was not punching as hard in the sixth, but still outworking and outlanding Pascal.

In the eight, Pascal tried to rush Bivol with a lot of wild punches. The champion managed to brush them away, regrouped, and began to punish Pascal with punches for most of the round.

In the tenth, Pascal was electing to trade punches with Bivol, who landed far more of his shots. Both fighters extended a lot of energy. Pascal was rallying with hard hooks to the body in the final minute.

Pascal was able to last until the final bell, with Bivol in control of the contes.
