As a pillar of the jiu-jitsu community and one of the fastest rising stars in MMA, Dillon Danis’ upcoming bout at Bellator bout against Max Humphrey was one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year.  Unfortunately, over the weekend, Humphrey announced that he was withdrawing from the fight due to an undisclosed freak accident which took place during his training camp.

Enter AJ Agazarm.

Widely considered one of the toughest men in the jiu-jitsu world, Agazarm’s mma debut was an unsuccessful albeit uneventful decision robbery, and Agazarm is looking to prove that he belongs.  Bellator has announced that Agazarm and Danis will face off in fight that will take place at welterweight at Bellator 221 on May 11th.

Both Agazarm and Danis are huge names in the jiu-jitsu world, both often taking the biggest podiums in the sport.  Both are also known for their penchant for pre-fight banter, so the Jiu-Jitsu Times reached out to Danis and Agazarm about their thoughts on their fight.

Danis seemed to parrot his mentor in his statement regarding the match:

“I run this whole thing. I run New York. I run this whole ship. Without me none of this happens. I run this whole s—. Everyone in this game does what they’re f—— told except for me and rightly f—— so. If I say you’re on the prelims, you’re on the f—— prelims. If I say main event, it’s the f—— main event. These custom-made suits aren’t cheap. This solid gold pocket watch, three people died making this watch. I need to put people away. I need those big fights. I’m going to end up in debt pretty fast. And one more thing can make you rich. I change your bum life. You fight me, it’s a celebration. When you sign to fight me, it’s a celebration. You ring back home, you ring your wife: “Baby, we’ve done it. We’re rich, baby. Dillon Danis… made us rich. Break out the red panties.”

Agazarm’s comments were in typical Agazarm form:

“The loathsome, pernicious spectacle that is Dillon Danis shall succumb to my most lethal and protuberance flatulence. Quintessential, fornicant for always rodentious but fathomably loquatious. I shan’t palpate to any of Danis’ feeble attempts at redundant soliloqy.”

As an interesting side note: while Danis has been mentored by Conor McGregor for quite some time, Agazarm has recently been doing the bulk of his training with the Diaz brothers. While the chances of a trilogy fight between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor is low, there may be shenanigans and tomfoolery at the press conferences that take place moving forward.

The jiu-jitsu world will be given a special treat when two of their biggest stars collide in what is sure to be the fight of the century. Stay tuned for more details as they arise.
