Middleweight prospect Diego Pacheco returns to action tonight at the Auditorio Municipal in Tijuana, Mexico.

The 17-year-old Pacheco will square off against Alberto Aguilar (1-0, 1 knockout) in a four-round bout. DAZN will stream the fight live (7:15 p.m. ET/ 4:15 p.m. PT).

Pacheco (1-0, 1 KO), who resides in Los Angeles, was an amateur standout on both the U.S. and Mexico national teams. He signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing, which is run by Eddie Hearn.

Pacheco made his pro debut on Dec. 22, also in Tijuana, knocking out Luis Gonzalez in the opening round.

Because of his impressive amateur resume, there are high expectations for Pacheco as a pro.

“At 17, his maturity is impressive,” co-manager Tim VanNewhouse told BoxingScene.com in a text message. “Going into the pro (ranks) with such a team behind him early on is a big deal. He’s been able to maintain his professionalism and take his craft seriously.”

David McWater also co-manages Pacheco.

Pacheco will fight often this year, especially in the United States. He turns 18 on Mar. 8.

VanNewhouse believes Pacheco will elevate his game and become a well-rounded fighter, complimenting his 6’4” frame.

“(Diego) realizes and appreciates that fact that he has everything in place for him to be successful,” said VanNewhouse.”
