UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will return to the octagon at UFC 241 where he will look to defend his title in a rematch with Stipe Miocic.

Cormier and Miocic originally collided in July of 2018, with ‘DC’ emerging victorious by way of first round knockout.

Since then Daniel Cormier has gone on to defend his heavyweight crown on one occasion, defeating Derrick Lewis via submission at UFC 230.

As for Miocic, the Cleveland native has not stepped foot inside the cage since losing his title to Daniel Cormier at UFC 226. Prior to the setback, Stipe Miocic had put together an impressive six-fight win streak, which included three title defenses.

Regardless of what happens in his rematch with Miocic, many fight fans are hoping to see Daniel Cormier compete in a trilogy bout with reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Sadly, it sounds like that fight will likely never come to fruition, this after Daniel Cormier told TMZ that this fight at UFC 241 could very well be his last.

“You know I always said that I was going to fight until I turned 40, which would have been March at a card March 2nd, but I couldn’t make that one,” began Cormier when asked if the Miocic rematch would be his last UFC fight (transcript via MMAMania). “If I hold true to what I was saying then this would be the final one. I don’t anticipate fighting much past this. I just want to go out there and do my thing.”

Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier in both of their previous bouts. However, their most recent contest, which ended in a KO win for ‘Bones’, was later overturned to a no-contest after it was revealed that Jones had popped for banned substances.
