Dana White To Mayweather: NO Boxing, Must Face Khabib in UFC

UFC President Dana White tells TMZ Sports that if five division champion Floyd Mayweather is serious about fighting UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov – it won’t be a boxing match.

“Listen, if Mayweather wants to fight, come fight. You fight in the UFC. We’re not boxing him. We did that once. That’s over. You wanna fight? You come fight … a real fight,” White stated.

Of course, White is referring to Mayweather’s boxing match with UFC superstar Conor McGregor from August 2017 — which clocked in at the 2nd highest pay-per-view buyrate of all-time. But, apparently, White is not down for a second bite of that apple.

Mayweather snapped a two-year retirement to return for the McGregor bout, which took place at the junior middleweight limit,

Before a packed crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Mayweather broke down and stopped McGregor in the tenth round – which raised his record to a perfect 50-0.

After the fight, Mayweather announced his retirement from the sport.

As for Khabib, he dominated and submitted McGregor earlier this month – raising his undefeated record to 27-0.

Mayweather has previously teased that he was training for an MMA fight — but it doesn’t seem like he ever followed through with it.

UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley has offered to personally train Floyd and said he truly believes the 41-year-old could have real success in the Octagon.

Now Mayweather has been teasing a return to boxing – and rumors of a fight with Khabib first began a few weeks ago – when a video surfaced on social media with Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe standing side by side with Khabib at a boxing event in Russia. In that video, Khabib challenged Mayweather to a battle of undefeated fighters.

It didn’t take long for Mayweather to respond – as he embraced the idea of doing another cross-sport boxing match with Khabib.

In a recent interview, White made it clear that nobody from Mayweather’s team has contacted him to discuss the possibility of fighting Khabib – in boxing or MMA.
