Charlotte Flair is done apologizing for being good

From the above interview with Inside the Ropes:

“For so long, I felt like I couldn’t brag or be proud of my accomplishments. That so many people were like ‘well, why is Charlotte Flair this many times champion? Why is she always in the title picture? Why has she main-evented Raw and SmackDown?’ When people kept saying that, it made me feel bad. Like, I actually felt bad for everything that I had accomplished. And certain individuals made me feel bad. Instead of saying, like, why can’t you just be proud of me knowing that whoever talent I face is on the journey with me? And I think once December rolled around, I had just had enough of where I can’t apologize for being good — I am that good. I’m going to continue to prove to people that I am the baddest woman on the planet, and nothing is going to stop me, and it is my destiny to main event WrestleMania. That is my goal. I don’t care what woman is standing in front of me, it’s just my goal. I am the main event.”

Hot damn!

Becky Lynch got hot in late 2018 but, if we’re being honest here, Charlotte Flair has been hot for years, and she’s always been made to feel bad about that. That WWE has gone ahead and incorporated that into her story has given her character added depth, as you can see dripping through in this very interview.

Yes, she is Ric Flair’s daughter, and maybe that gave her an opportunity right in the door, but she still had to learn, she had to grow, and she had to get better all on her own. And I’ll be damned if she didn’t do just that, to the point that if she were given the main event slot at WrestleMania 35, as she states is her goal, no one would bat an eye at it, and certainly no one would claim she’s undeserving of it.

If they did, they’d be a liar.
