Carl Frampton Rejects Ducking Claim: Kid Galahad is No Killer!

Former two division world champion Carl Frampton is brushing off any discussion that he would vacate a world title to avoid Kid Galahad (25-0, 15 KOs).

Two weeks ago in Boston, Galahad won a twelve round unanimous decision over Toka Kahn Clary in an IBF final eliminator.

The victory makes Galahad the mandatory challenger to the winner of the upcoming showdown between Frampton and IBF world champion Josh Warrington, which takes place in Manchester on December 22.

Galahad has claimed that should Frampton defeat Warrington next month – he will then vacate the title and avoid their mandatory fight.

“He is insane. You look at his performances and he thinks he is a killer – he is not. “He won the fight and well done but why would I vacate my title just because I had to fight Kid Galahad? He is being stupid,” he told IFL.TV

“After beating Warrington – which I believe I will do – I want to unify the titles. Why would I give up the belt because Barry is coming? “I want big fights at this time of my career. I also want to step up a weight and have a crack at super featherweight. “I want big fights but why would I not want to fight Galahad.”

One of the big fights is a potential unification with WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez, who is slated to return on January 12.

Valdez’s promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, has already spoken to Frank Warren about a unification with the Frampton-Warrington winner. Warren promotes both of the fighters involved in the IBF title clash.

Another bout for Frampton is a trilogy unification with WBA champion Leo Santa Cruz. Frampton handed Santa Cruz his first career defeat with a close twelve round decision. And Santa Cruz got revenge with a close twelve round decision in the rematch, to hand Frampton his first career loss.
