On Saturday, October 27, at the Madison Square Garden in New York, promoter Eddie Hearn held a press conference to announce his next card on DAZN.
And this time Hearn is taking boxing to Kansas! The stacked card which will feature Kansas’ own Brandon Rios taking on Ramon Alvarez – on November 17th at the Kansas Star Arena & Casino in Mulvane, Kansas.
Rios, a native of Kansas, is excited to fight back home in front of family and friends, but most importantly come back strong to win.
At the press conference, Hearn said he has a multi-fight deal with Rios and securing him bigger headlining fights, but first he has to get through Alvarez.
Rios has been concentrated in training camp under the tutelage of trainer Robert Garcia. Rios has prepared for a few fights this year which unfortunately have fell through, but through all these trials, Rios has remained determined to make a great comeback in the sport he loves, surrounded by a solid, small team.
“I’m going back to Kansas. It’s the middle of nowhere, but it’s Kansas. I’m excited to be going back to fight there for the first time since 2009. I always come to fight and fighting Canelo’s older brother is great, everyone knows how I fight, and I am ready, I’m honored to be part of a bill stacked with talented fighters,” Rios said.
And Hearn expects a sold out crowd – “I watched Nico Hernandez box in Kansas on YouTube and I saw what we love at Matchroom Boxing – passion, excitement and a city that is behind the sport and their fighters. Then I realized that Brandon Rios is from Kansas, and we decided to take this event to the KSA and I am really, excited.
“We’ve got about 6,000 seats to sell, and I believe we’re going to sell every one of them.”
