With a title shot on the line the main event of this week’s SmackDown had plenty of stakes added to it.
At the top of the episode, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair were booked into a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match at next month’s TLC pay-per-view. In the land of opportunity, SmackDown General Manager Paige decided to toss a wildcard into the deck.
Open to any women in the SmackDown locker room, the winner of a battle royal would be added to the Lynch vs. Flair match and turn it into a triple threat TLC bout.
Featuring Asuka, Billie Kay, Carmella, Lana, Mandy Rose, Naomi, Peyton Royce, Sonya Deville and Zelina Vega the battle royal quickly devolved to a rapid fire brawl.
The final four featured Asuka, Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose and Naomi fighting for their title opportunity. After Rose and Naomi were eliminated, Asuka and Deville squared up.
For a brief second you thought Deville had a chance to pull off the massive upset and join the TLC title match. Then Asuka went Asuka and all those thoughts were put to rest.
Knee to face and Asuka joins Lynch and Flair in the first ever women’s Tables, Ladders and Chairs match.
The TLC pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., Dec. 16, 2018, at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
For the past few months Asuka has been MIA, is there any chance The Empress of Tomorrow walks away from TLC with the SmackDown women’s title on her shoulder?
